My Dr. Strange Review

My Dr. Strange Review

I went into this movie not a huge Dr.Strange fan. I like most people my age or older enjoyed the late sixties/seventies Steve Ditko era. Although I read them in the 90s twenty years after they came out. I was never a fan of any other writers take on the character. They always made him too powerful or not powerful enough, the scope of his abilities was limited by many writers understanding of the occult or mysticism which isn’t a thing. All knowledge is arcane even science. Continue reading My Dr. Strange Review

Dreamcasting; The Inhumans

So the new EWs (Entertainment Weekly) arrived yesterday featuring a cover story on The Avengers which was awesome, but the real news was dropped in one of those little boxes in the corner of the article. An Inumans movie is in the works! I know there are a ton of nerds that already know this but along with the fact that a Guardians of the Galaxy movie is also working its way down the pike. Now as awesome as it will be to see the Rocket Raccoon on the big screen, it’s the Inhumans that got me thinking. Who would be the perfect cast? Continue reading Dreamcasting; The Inhumans

Three strikes for the New 52

The sad thing is, that Marvel is being drowned out by all this over hype. The shake up in the X-Men world, the death of Bucky in Fear Itself. More importantly no one is talking about Uncanny X-Force! Which for my money is the finest book on the market. The Dark Angel Saga, which has Archangel claiming the role of Apocalypse finally, is the finest X-story in years. It’s hilarious and has finally made me care about Deadpool. The art is above and beyond anything else on the stands and Rick Remender is quickly becoming one of my favorite writers on the planet. If you’re not reading it, you should be! Continue reading Three strikes for the New 52

52 Put Down

As we ebb closer and closer to the end of the month and the end of DC Comics as we know it, I guess I should finish ripping apart the 52 preview they released last month. Now I know there are those of you out there who feel I should wait and pass judgment after the books are released and I read them, but in this economy there is no way in hell I could afford to collect 52 new titles not to mention that from what they have chosen to reveal so far leaves me fuming no less. It has been said that this re-launch is for introducing new readers without bogging them down with all of the vast history that DC has to offer, but I see it as spitting in the face of everyone who has ever bought a DC book-ever. Captain America; The Review

The Point of these films was to increase comic book sales! The point of these films was not to just dump money in Marvel’s pocket. That didn’t happen-they failed! Marvel has been sold to Disney, and while that enraged me at first it didn’t really stop me from buying my same books every week. If they do away with print books I’ll break down and sign up for the digital subscription. I don’t care, I love comics, always have since I was 8 and nothing is going to change that. 3 Ways to save Comics Now!

Wednesday used to be a day of celebration not that long ago. Yet ever since DC announced its big re-launch/reboot coming up in September, Wednesdays have become a somber countdown to the end of an era and the moment when I stop collecting the few DC books I currently buy. The common cry from the pro re-launch camp is that sales are poor and DC has to do something, but this is the wrong something in my opinion. Continue reading 3 Ways to save Comics Now!
